Dry Skin Friendly Niche ProductI don't understand why so many people complain about the fragrance of this night 'cream', I simply adore it, it smells lux. I didn't realise that this product has retinol in it & I use this with my Medik8 vitamin A serum underneath & haven't had any adverse side effects. Given the texture of the product, yes it is similar to Vaseline, it creates a barrier to keep the vitamin A locked in over night with I appreciate. Note I'm 40 years old with combination skin (some dry patches in the colder months, some oily patches & hyperpigmentation). I've found that the 'cream' doesn't aggravate my acne or cause break outs, besides I use Clinique anti blemish solutions to combat this in my skin care routine. I loved this travel size so much I purchased a full size. I will say I probably won't repurchase this when it runs out but a little goes a long way so this is lasting a long time. Please note, I'd advise warming the product in between your fingers & then massaging it into your skin using a very small amount. It does get on my pillow & takes awhile to soak in (it's gone by the morning) but I don't find that bothersome. I think if you have extremely dry skin you'll love this but I see how it could be problematic for a younger person with very oily skin as it's not your regular run of the mill moisturiser. My skin is much more supple in the morning but I can't say I've noticed any of the retinol skin benefits such as help with fine lines besides I rely on my Medik8 to do that for me. If you can afford the splurge for this 'cream' go for it but I'll be honest & say that I probably won't repurchase this & plan to give Elemis & Kate Somerville night creams a go that have multiple benefits instead albeit I don't regret the purchase. This certainly is a niche product that you're either gonna love or hate. I'd say it's ideally suited some someone with very dry skin with minimal other skin complaints. As I said it does help lock in your other skin care products though & combined with an oil is does go on much better. Also kudos for the recyclable packaging & the packaging does look very lux indeed. If you're looking for an actual cream then this product certainly isn't is but if you want a heavier Vaseline esq formula this will be right up your street.

OkCharlotte Tilbury magic night cream is a very thick textured balm like cream. It’s quite sticky with a rich oily feel on the skin. I think for a normal to dry skin type it would be best and would probably sink in better. It’s just too shiny and heavy on my skin which is combo oily. It would work great as a final layer to seal in moisture and it has a pleasant scent. For sensitive skin I recommend trying a sample first as it tends to make my skin feel warm and slightly tingly. If you like a balm cream to seal in your night time routine this is the one for you, for me I prefer a much lighter texture. I can see why this has mixed reviews as depending on skin type it may or not be a good match. It’s great you can buy a small trial size.

Love this creamIt is expensive. I got a free sample and really liked it. Bought the 15ml to double check I loved it before spending £100 for the full size. I wake up with dewy, glowing skin and a little really does go a long way. I’m definitely hooked!

The smell and texture are horribleI have really dry skin so usually love a balm type cream which is what this is but everything about this cream is horrible. The scent is so off putting and the texture is all wrong, even for someone with really dry skin it broke me out in spots where it just clogged up my pores. Would definitely not recommend to anyone.

On the fence..I’ve only used the sample for a few nights and tbh I feel a bit torn about my opinion.
I absolutely hate the thick, sticky, oily texture. But a little does go a long way..
Definitely can’t stand the smell! Reminds me of that awful elderly royal jelly stuff from M&S that makes me feel ancient before my time..
However, my skin feels absolutely amazing the next day.
Despite the great results I don’t think I could continue to use it just because I really can’t stand the smell :(
