Works great.
I have never used the previous product, so I have no reference point. But for me, this worked really well. I have very oily skin. This is the best primer I have used that kept the oiliness at bay for longer than a couple of hours. I went out to eat, sat on the sunny patio in 90F weather and my make up still looked fresh when I returned home.I used it in conjunction with the Double Wear Stay in Place make up and they work so well together. I know it's expensive, but you only need a tiny amount.

Double Wear Smooth & Blur Primer
I am terribly disappointed with this new product. I wear Double Wear Foundation and the Primer separates and does not blend well. I loved The Mattifier and wish it was still available.

Does Not Smooth!
This product is such a disappointment. I have tried it for 3 days and will now throw away. It is like paste and makes my makeup separate. I used the old smoother for years, and expected this to glide on like that one. It is simply too thick and pasty.

Double Wear
I do not recommend this product. It did not perform as well as the Estee Lauder The Mattifier Shine Control Perfecting Primer that it replaced. I would gladly pay double to have The Mattifier Shine Control Primer back.

Drying and cakey
I ordered this after The Smoother was discontinued. This product is awful! Feels very dry and makes makeup feel cakey and heavy. I have had to go to another brand. Please bring The Smoother back!

Dreadful
I will echo others in this! Why oh why discontinue "The Mattifyer". This is not a good replacement, it leaves a white cast and is drying. I use very moisturising natural skincare so I know my face is properly prepped. I'm nearly out of my current mattifyer and have already wasted £35 on another primer which didn't control oil, so I'm not sure now what I'm going to try. Going to have to waste more money trying to find a primer when I've used the mattifyer for years and years. Very disappointed with Estée Lauder, I think you should listen to the feedback on this one and bring back the mattifyer which wasn't broken in the first place!
