Product Description

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a 10-minute exfoliating facial.

With 30% Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% Beta Hydroxyl Acid (Salicylic Acid), Hyaluronic Acid Crosspolymer, Vitamin B5, Black Carrot and Tasmanian Pepperberry.

Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin's topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. Beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This combined 32% AHA/BHA solution offers deeper exfoliation to help fight visible blemishes and for improved skin radiance. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture and reduces the look of fine lines with continued use.

This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time. This formula is further supported with a crosspolymer form of hyaluronic acid for comfort, Vitamin B5 to assist healing and black carrot as an antioxidant.

This pH of this formula is approximately 3.6. Glycolic Acid, the primary AHA used in the formula, has a pKa of 3.6 and pKa is the most important aspect to consider in formulating with acids. pKa implies acid availability. When pKa is close to pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, maximising effectiveness of the acid and reducing irritation. Higher pH numbers in such a case would increase salt which counter-intuitively would make the formula even more irritating than if the formula was more acidic.

Alcohol-free, nut-free, gluten-free, soy-free, vegan.

Directions

Use ideally in the PM, no more frequently than twice per week. Clean face and wait for skin to dry. Do not use on wet skin. Apply evenly across face and neck using your fingertips. Leave on for no more than 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes both during application and rinse off. This low-viscosity solution is intended to be used as a masque. Do not leave on for longer than 10 minutes. If persistent irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician.

This formula contains a very high concentration of free acids. We recommend use only if you are an experienced user of acid exfoliation and your skin is not sensitive. Contraindications: this formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards. Use only as directed. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear Skin I bought it before 1 month. As it is a very strong acids combination, so till now I have used it on my hands and feet and the result is good. It removed the uneven skin tone and gives a radiant skin. Gradually I will use it on my face.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, but... I'm a little bit confused; I bought the AHA and BHA peeling solution a year ago and it was perfect. So, I decided to repurchase it again. That was a month ago when I bought the same product, and I was surprised because it stained with red color on my fingers that I used to put the product on my face, and those stains lasted for less than a minute as I washed my hands with soap. Unfortunately for my face, it stayed for a day. Though it was very hard to see the red color on my face, but when I used a moisturized sheet mask I was clearly able to see the red color go off with the sheet. Is that normal or have I got a fake product?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good! I’m loving it! I bought this about two weeks ago, and I’ve used it’s about 3 times since. First time my skin was so smooth after and loved it, but I have a question, when I applied it it kinda turned milky, is that normal? And should I be rubbing it in?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The real deal I cannot praise this peel enough! I use it twice weekly, applying to clean, dry skin, and leaving it on for 10 minutes max. Be aware this is strong, and follow the instructions to a T. With this peel more is less. I never use this with any retinoid or strong exfoliating serum. Instead, my skin has a rest day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My skin feels amazing! I bought the peeling solution about 2 months ago. I only use it once a week. My skin feels amazing after I have used it. It feels like a salon exfoliation, really smooth and clean. You need to be aware it’s a bit stingy so be very careful around the eyes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better skin for sure! I have used the peel only twice so far, but each time my face feels smoother than before. I can already tell it is helping with my acne—being able to exfoliate more than by using my usual cleanser alone. Looking forward to seeing some improvement of my melasma over time. The color of the peel kind of freaked me out at first, but the results are impressive after just a couple uses!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing If I’m not mistaken this is my third bottle. It lasts for a long time and it does wonders to my oily skin. I had enlarged pores that are almost gone by using ordinary products. Nothing can ever beat ordinary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Sleep On This Exfoliating Treatment! The thing is, sometimes you don't know how good a treatment is until you fall off a consistent regimen! I have used this serum for more than 4 years. Recently, I fell off my routine (easily over 3 weeks) and boy did my skin not like it! I have aging skin concerns, but add congestion, dullness, blemishes on top of that...ugh! What a difference when I got back to using this twice a week in combination with my AM & PM routine. Things cleared up quickly and my skin immediately responded better to my other products. So, that is why I am writing my review now. Stay consistent and your skin will love it.

How many drops should you use when applying?

Asked by: Sophie
I don't count drops but instead I pipette it straight on the face making 2 inch lines... one on the forehead, one diagonally down each cheek, on vertically down the nose, one across the chin and a bit above my lip. I think it works out about two pipettes full. I then gently rub in circular motions ensuring not to get any under the eye area. Sorry for the bad explanation... I hope that makes sense a little bit!

Hi, Can i use a hydrating product after the peeling? Thanks, Irati

Asked by: Irati
Hi, When I use this I follow it with a hydrating toner (I use Elemis Apricot toner), then a hyaluronic acid serum (I use The Ordinary). I leave that for 10 minutes then apply a moisturiser (with an SPF if it's daytime). Hope this helps :)

Hi, After using this, can i use a retinoid or retinol toner?   Or can is it safe to use the retinoid or retinol toner before the niacinimide and zinc?  I have a really bad acne prone skin and it’s depressing!

Asked by: Angelica

Can I use lactic acid or retinoid after using this? Thanks

Asked by: Natasha
Hi, Thanks for reaching out to us. The brand advise the following: "A customer can use the The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution and then they should be able to use any of our Granactive Retinoid formulas afterwards without any problems. If they were using a retinol, it might be advisable to not use them on the same night just in case they experience irritation. We wouldn’t recommend using the lactic acid at all with the AHA peel as they are both exfoliating options and doing so risks over-exfoliating the skin, so we would recommend to use EITHER the peel OR the lactic acid formula." I hope this helps! Thanks, Chloe - Beauty Expert

My hand have some pigmentationnon their and have slightly beckme damadhed because im always cleaning and working.. can inuse this on my hands

Asked by: Bushra
Hi, Thanks for reaching out to us. The brand advises the following: "This product is not officially tested for use on the hands, so it should be used on this area at the customers discretion. As it hasn't been tested for use on the hands, we cannot claim that this product is safe for use on that area, however, logically it should be fine as skin on our hands tends to be thicker and less sensitive that skin on our face." I hope this helps! Thanks, Chloe - Beauty Expert
