Product Description

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Lightening Spray

Versatile, patent-pending formula with citrus and chamomile works with styling heat to gradually lighten and brighten for a natural-looking, blonder blonde. Contains thermo-protectant. Patent-pending technology combines fixative and conditioning polymers that retain hydrogen peroxide, allowing for control of lightening. Visibly lightens in 3-5 uses.

* please note John Frieda are in the process of updating their packaging.

Directions

Spray thoroughly on towel-dried hair; then style as desired. For optimal lightening, use a flat iron or curling iron after blow-drying. The more heat you use, the greater the lightening effects.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved Old Formula I have used this product for decades and love it for brightening my dishwater blonde hair. I recently got a new bottle and something has changed and the blonde is almost too blonde and brassy. It doesn't feel as natural and has an odd fruity scent. I'm getting purple shampoo to try and tone down the brass and am hoping I can get a hold of the old formula again! I have loved this for so many years!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great IF You Follow Instructions I am super protective of my hair and try and treat it very well, so I did a LOT of research before buying this product and had very humble expectations. After four uses, I LOVED the results and my expectations were exceeded! I am the target demographic for lightening sprays--I have dark blonde/ light brown hair naturally, with some grown-out blonde highlights; my hair is quite healthy and my highlights were done by a salon. I read the instructions carefully, and followed almost all of them, but I don't own a hair dryer and so I put the spray on dry hair and sat in direct sunlight for about 90 minutes (wearing sunscreen on my face and body) four times in a week. I can say the product worked really beautifully for me! It did exactly what I wanted it to, blending my roots with my blonder ends, and left my hair undamaged. The color is obviously a bit brassy, but one go with purple shampoo fixed that. I even put some on my boyfriend's dark brown hair on a beach day, and with one use he got some very subtle, natural-looking highlights. The major downside to using this product as a sun-in product (that you wouldn't really have to worry about if you blow-dry) is that it only lightens the top layer of your hair, and the bottom layers were still my natural color. I have really thick hair, so I think that's a big part of why there was a noticeable difference between top and bottom, so to resolve this I just put the lightened parts of my hair in tight buns and exposed the bottom layer. After two sessions like this, the bottom part was lighter but not as light as the top layer, which I think looks more natural than a completely uniform tone. Will certainly buy again! TLDR: Works great as a sun-activated product IF your hair is already on the lighter side. Be sure to evenly expose all sides and layers of your hair for best results. Minor brassiness easily fixed with a round of purple shampoo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great Spray does excellent work for dark blond/ light brown. I use it for years just to keep my hair much lighter shade that I love. Thanks to this product I stopped using dyes, hence it's much healthier option. I spray a little only in few areas /roots/ after every other hair-washing. Looks natural. For medium brown to go blond, you would have to use much more, make sure to spray evenly and after a while wash it off, but dye may be cheaper, better option. One minus - there is no info what strenght of peroxide is it. Peroxide isn't that expensive ;)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well with careful application! The bottle doesn't tell you enough so your hair will break like any bleach product does! The website tells you how to use it. There are not enough warnings on packaging so this product is bad from that point of view.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from AVOID AT COSTS!!!! As a hairdresser I have seen this used time and time again! When coloured after it reacts by actually steaming then snaps or melts! Should have a warning on the packaged or better still not sold at all!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid like the plague if you like your hair I used this spray once after washing with the matching shampoo. The result was so brassy that I followed it up with a semi-permanent ashy box dye - big mistake. There should be a warning with this spray: the top half of my hair broke off to about 2 inches (my hair is long) and each strand thinned to about half of what it was. I was absolutely devastated, as before this, my hair wasn't in bad condition at all, despite using box dyes in shades of dark blonde.
